A 16 year old New York City teen was imprisoned on Rikers Island Prison for three years on robbery charges but never tried nor convicted. This included more than a year in solitary confinement. Kalief Browder says he attempted suicide six times while in the notorious jail. The charges were eventually dropped and he has filed a lawsuit against the city and several agencies.
