Did the Pope give in to extortion?

There has been much speculation on why the Pope abdicated, 600 years since the last abdication. Some reports say it was over the sexual abuse scandal that is still rocking the church, others say it is related to the Vatican Bank being implicated in money laundering. Now a new report says the Pope was forced out due to revelations of homosexuality.

Speaking of churches, The National Black Church Initiative (NBCI) is a coalition of 34,000 churches and it recently issued a press release condemning the Obama administration's drone policy and called it "Murder" and "Evil".

With automatic budget cuts set to kick in next month if Congress and the President can not work out a new deal, a poll is reporting that most American's support cuts to Foreign Aid.

A delegation of US lawmakers left Cuba recently and some are lamenting the fact that they did not secure the release of an American contractor who was convicted "for bringing communications equipment to the island while on a USAID-funded democracy-building program.

Spain has been targeted by protest over how the global financial crisis is affecting ordinary citizens who were not afforded bailouts like Global banks. Spains unemployment rate stands at 26% but yet, out of work homeowners are being tossed out into the streets among other problems.
