The North Carolina General Assembly is done for the year, must be nice to take off work with five months left in the calendar year. However, the Moral Monday protests that have been going on in Raleigh will continue as progressives in North Carolina take their protests on the road. At the protests in Asheville, it is estimated that between 5,000 and 10,000 protesters turned out to demonstrate against a number of recent laws passed by Republicans who control all three branches of the North Carolina state government.

British journalist Caitlin Moran was calling for feminist to log off Twitter for a day but a backlash developed which questioned silencing women online and offline would be giving in to misogynists. Some women took issue with the protest as many felt it was born out of white privilege and “it alienated and excluded marginalized women -- poor women, transgender women, women of color, etc. -- who don't have the luxury of choosing to fall silent”.
