Could the Carolinas be hit with swarms of earthquakes?

Tune in to Occupy The Microphone and join Gorgeous Gregg, Daisy Deadhead and Double A as they take on the issues and news of the day.

With fracking picking up in South Carolina and a moratorium about to end in North Carolina, the Carolinas could be looking at possible earthquakes after research links the controversial method of obtaining natural gas to seismic activity in New Mexico. Researchers released findings at the Seismological Society of America's annual meeting in Salt Lake City, Utah this month and said ongoing earthquakes in New Mexico and Colorado is due to underground wastewater injection.

States like North Carolina, which has a Republican super majority are discussing eliminating "earned income tax credits" for tax payers while giving corporations multi-million dollar "incentives" to lure them to their states. We reported yesterday on the incentives given to the Boeing company to expand in South Carolina. The issue of corporations and the wealthiest Americans not paying their fair share of taxes was hotly debated during the last Presidential election highlighted by Mitt Romney's offshore bank accounts. In some cases, corporations are not only avoiding taxes through overshore schemes but a few have received multi-million dollar refunds!

Customers of Spartanburg Water System have seen rate hikes the last five years and now looking at a possible sixth straight year they have seen their water bills go up even though water usage is down.
