Guest: Efia Nwangaza, veteran civil and human rights activist

Veteran civil and human rights activist Efia Nwangaza joins us today to discuss her recent trip to Geneva, Switzerland where she attended a conference on human rights and political prisoners.

The prosecution of Bradley Manning continues with the US Government asserting that the private "aided" the enemy when he leaked files to Wikileaks. Manning said he leaked the files trying to expose the American military’s "bloodlust" and disregard for human life in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The G8 group, which is comprised of rich countries and heaving protested by activist over the years, have condemned "in the strongest possible terms" North Korea's development of nuclear weapons and ballistic missile technology. As Occupy The Microphone reported yesterday, the United States announced it was "upgrading" its nuclear arsenal and building a new uranium enrichment facility in the state of Tennessee.

A Kentucky Democratic said two members of Progress Kentucky told him that they recorded the conversation of Mitch McConnell's conversation with staffers that allegedly violated ethics rules. It is illegal to record a conversation in Kentucky without the consent of at least one party of the conversation. Due to the possible unethical nature of the conversation, it is doubtful they would have obtained consent from anyone in the room. While McConnell screams about Nixonian "bugging", the individuals allegedly recorded the conversation standing in the hallway with where they could clearly hear the meeting and record it with an iPhone.

However, you do not have to go back to the Watergate for the most recent political "bugging" scandal.  Conservative operative James O’Keefe and three others were arrested back in 2010 for attempting to allegedly wiretap the telephone lines in the office of Democratic U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu.
